School History
A school with a small endowment existed in the parish by the early 19th century. It was situated near the Church building.
As the demand for education grew and numbers of pupils increased, the small rural schooling community outgrew it's walls and a new school building was needed. Once the new site was secured for the school, the original school building was disused for many years and fell into disrepair. Work began in 2008 to restore the building. Today it is known as the Old School Room.
The Old School Room is held as the location for the St. Hilary Heritage Centre and also the venue for all Parish Council meetings.

Today..
St Hilary School is a happy school with a ‘can do’ approach to all areas. We do all we can to see that every child appreciates that while some aspects of school life are more difficult than others, nothing is beyond their capabilities if they work hard and persevere.
At St Hilary School we value all children equally and know their every strength and weakness. We aim to help children find themselves, to be in their element and know self discipline.

“We could make a real difference to schools nationally by distilling, bottling and exporting what happens in this building”
